The Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (GPSC) organization is on the lookout for talented candidates for both current and future Senior Buyer positions. As a Senior Procurement Specialist, you will play a crucial role in impacting various sectors of the GPSC organization, such as: Chassis Propulsion Structures Interior/Exterior/Thermal Battery, Fuel Cells, & Critical Material Electrical systems, Software, and Connectivity Indirect Purchasing or Other The perfect candidate will excel in an independent work environment, possess strong problem-solving skills, and effectively prioritize tasks to maximize value for General Motors. Oversee the procurement of essential and non-essential materials, supplies, machinery, tooling, and services. Assist in formulating comprehensive commodity strategies. Lead global sourcing initiatives and conduct negotiations with suppliers. Manage material budgets at both global and regional levels. Foster collaboration with suppliers and internal teams. Maintain sourcing documentation, benchmarking data, and monitor on-time metrics. Comply with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. Participate in strategic sourcing activities, including bid management and quote analysis. Align Request for Quotation (RFQ) components while ensuring compliance with Terms & Conditions. Guide sourcing recommendations in partnership with cross-functional teams. Build and manage supplier relationships and lead Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reviews. Address supply chain disruptions and assist with contract evaluations. Spot opportunities for continuous improvement and cost savings. Promote GM's values and make customer satisfaction a priority. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain management, program/product management, logistics, or product development. Data Judgment - Skilled in analyzing data to derive meaningful insights. Effective Communication - Capable of relaying pertinent information promptly to the appropriate audience. Relationship Management - Expertise in forming and sustaining constructive working relationships. Negotiation - Proficient in conducting negotiations that yield beneficial agreements. Analytical Thinking - Skilled in evaluating multiple factors to identify effective solutions. Results Orientation - Driven to deliver results promptly. Workload Management - Capable of balancing multiple tasks ensuring quality and prioritization. SAP experience or a willingness to learn procurement systems. Willingness to travel 10% of the time, both domestically and internationally. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field. Experience with diverse commodities. Understanding of cost analysis and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with the automotive industry. Knowledge of capacity and materials management. Aptitude for analyzing complex data, market trends, and regulatory conditions. Ability to interpret engineering documentation and technical specifications.
