The Role We are seeking a Senior Principal Security Architect who will serve as a vital technical leader, spearheading the research, design, prototyping, and operationalization of advanced security solutions within Lumen's Managed and Professional Security Services portfolio. This role is crucial in ensuring that security architectures are robust, scalable, automated, and seamlessly integrated with Lumen Validated Designs (LVD). The architect will be instrumental in driving innovative, market-ready cybersecurity offerings that encompass the entire product lifecycle—from initial design to operational support. Main Responsibilities Lead R&D initiatives focused on new and emerging security technologies for Lumen's Managed and Professional Services offerings. Establish evaluation plans, success criteria, and validation frameworks for assessing security platforms and solutions. Architect, design, and develop prototype solutions, transitioning validated designs into production-ready offerings. Collaborate closely with Security Operations and Product Management teams to ensure architectures are operationally effective and support automated delivery models. Work across Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and other teams to align technical frameworks with product strategy and customer needs. Design and implement security automation and orchestration capabilities, utilizing SOAR-driven workflows and AI enhancements. Create and maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, reference designs, and operational guidance. Additional Responsibilities Design frameworks that account for multitenancy, shared infrastructure, cloud, and customer-owned environments. Focus on architectures that enhance alert quality, analyst efficiency, and measurable SOC outcomes. Integrate operational metrics and feedback mechanisms into all designs for sustained efficacy. Provide technical enablement and training for internal teams, such as SOC analysts and engineers. Engage with third-party security technology providers to explore collaborative managed solutions within Lumen's ecosystem. Support comprehensive security solution delivery, covering all phases from architecture to ongoing operations. Collaborate with stakeholders to define interface requirements and operational needs, ensuring compliance with security and risk management regulations. Design solutions suitable for Public Sector clients, including systems requiring Authority To Operate (ATO). What We Look For in a Candidate 15+ years of experience in Managed Security Services environments. 10+ years of practical experience in a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC). Deep expertise in architecture and implementation of diverse security solutions for both cloud and on-premises environments. Experience in scaling workflows and automation for Security Operations. Proven track record in delivering complete security solutions, from design through operational handoff. Strong knowledge of industry security frameworks and compliance standards, such as NIST, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and others. Adept at managing multiple security technologies while quickly learning new platforms. Experience within Global SOC environments. U.S. Citizenship required; Security Clearance is preferred. CISSP certification is mandatory. Additional advanced security or vendor certifications are highly desirable. Technical Expertise The candidate should have experience with various security technologies, including but not limited to: MDR / XDR Managed SIEM (cloud & on-prem) SOAR and automated playbooks Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) Vulnerability Scanning and Management CASB SASE Quantum security concepts (e.g., QKE) AI-driven security analytics and automation Security of AI technologies (model protection, data integrity) AI applications for Security (threat detection, response automation) Integration of threat intelligence and operationalization Identity-Centric architectures Compensation This position's anticipated salary range reflects current national data; actual compensation may vary based on location, skills, and experience. Location Based Pay Ranges $152,066 - $202,755 in select states. $159,670 - $212,893 in various states. $167,273 - $223,031 in high-demand states.
