Position Overview: We are seeking a licensed Family or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Ohio with at least one year of NP experience in a primary care or hospital medicine setting. The NP will provide full-time, on-site primary care services to adult patients. This assignment is projected to last approximately 6 months, with potential extensions or consideration for permanent hire based on performance and mutual fit. Preferred Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Flexible to meet patient care needs Key Responsibilities Monitor and manage chronic illnesses, intervening as necessary using established policies and protocols Administer vaccinations, prescribe medications, and perform treatments for acute and chronic conditions Conduct routine physical exams to assess patient health and diagnose new conditions Evaluate patients for specialty referrals and review consult reports, approving or following up as appropriate Order and review laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic testing Perform routine and emergency medical care as scheduled Provide minor surgical procedures as trained and competent Document patient encounters thoroughly, including assessments, diagnostic impressions, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions Conduct patient rounds and follow-up evaluations as appropriate Collaborate with supervising physician or Chief Medical Officer on treatment planning, medical reclassifications, and non-formulary medication requests Maintain compliance with nursing scope of practice as defined by the State of Ohio Nursing Board Participate in quality oversight activities and accept guidance or redirection to ensure high standards of patient care Required Qualifications Active Ohio Nurse Practitioner license (Family or Adult-Gerontology) Minimum 1 year of NP experience in primary care or hospital medicine BLS/CPR certification at healthcare professional level Board certification in NP specialty DEA certification as applicable for prescribing medications Strong clinical judgment and patient assessment skills Ability to document care clearly and thoroughly Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and supervisory staff Required Documentation for Credentialing Comprehensive resume including education, training, and complete work history Ohio NP license and board certification DEA certification, if applicable BLS/CPR certification Drug and TB test documentation (must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to start date) Skills & Abilities Proficiency in managing chronic and acute conditions Strong diagnostic, assessment, and patient management skills Excellent communication and documentation skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with healthcare team ⚠ This position is located within an adult prison system; employees may have direct contact with incarcerated individuals.
