The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced clinical care to patients with acute and chronic medical conditions within inpatient and/or outpatient healthcare settings. The NP performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses medical conditions, develops treatment plans, and manages ongoing patient care. The NP practices in accordance with the scope of practice for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) in Massachusetts and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive health assessments including medical history and physical examinations. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions. Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments in accordance with Massachusetts prescriptive authority regulations. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed. Conduct admission evaluations and daily rounds (if practicing in an inpatient setting). Provide preventive care, health maintenance, and chronic disease management. Coordinate care with behavioral health attendings and interdisciplinary treatment team. Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer review activities. Qualifications: Education: Minimum of a Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Certification (one of the following depending on specialty): Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (GNP) Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts Authorization as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Massachusetts Prescriptive authority in Massachusetts Required Registrations: Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (MCSR) Federal DEA Registration (if prescribing controlled substances) Experience: Clinical experience in primary care, hospital medicine, internal medicine, or specialty practice preferred. Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills Knowledge of evidence-based medical practice Ability to manage acute and chronic diseases Strong interdisciplinary communication and collaboration Knowledge of DMH, Joint Commission, and CMS healthcare regulatory standards and documentation requirements
