Do you have a passion for animals and want to take part in a job that makes you feel rewarded?Cascade Hospital for Animals is looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician with the skills and education to provide top-quality care to pets and their owners!This position would switch between our two locations, Cascade Hospital for Animals & Breton Village Animal Clinic.What we are looking for:A current Licensed (or Registered) Veterinary Technician in MichiganPrevious experience in a clinical veterinary setting (preferred)Proficiency in medical software and record-keepingStrong communication and ability to work in a team-environmentWhat we provide:A starting rate based on skillset and experience levelEmployee pet care discounts (e.g., free physical exams, free vaccines, discounted daycare, etc.)Yearly wage reviewsPaid time off and sick timeA continuing education allowanceA comprehensive mentoring programMedical, dental and vision for full-time team membersAn accessible Employee Assistance Program that offers mental health servicesYearly scrub vouchersand more!As an LVT in this role, you would:Assist our doctors in medical, surgical and dental procedures (including cleaning & polishing, charting, and radiographs; prepping patients for surgery; monitoring patients during surgery and recovery; calculating and administering anesthetic doses; monitor patients during surgery and recovery; administering fluids, etc.)Complete patient SOAP notes; entering and verifying charges in the computerPerform emergency procedures such as control of bleeding, resuscitation with oxygen, and external cardiac massagePerform clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis, and fungal cultures; draw blood for laboratory analysis; ensure that test results are recorded in patient fileCounsel clients on animal care; explaining dosage/purpose of medications; make follow-up calls to clients and properly document client communications in the patient fileFill prescriptions as instructed by doctor, understanding usage and dosage for all prescription drugs (including heartworm preventative and prescription flea control products)Clean and maintain surgical, dental and anesthetic equipmentKeep the surgery and dental rooms stocked and prepared for proceduresPrepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areasMaintain an appropriate inventory of all drugs and medical suppliesPlace IV cathetersAssist in ultrasound and endoscopy proceduresAdminister injections and oral medicationsAssist in restraining pet patients when neededTake radiographs and perform ECGAdmit and discharge patients We are proud to have been providing exceptional medicine and service for the pets and people of the Grand Rapids area since 1955!
