A remarkable signing bonus of $20,000 is available for qualified candidates, along with potential for advanced entry paygrades based on your professional credentials: E-4 (Petty Officer Third Class): Candidates with an Associate Degree from a CODA-accredited Dental Hygiene program can enter at this advanced paygrade with earnings of up to $104,000 annually. E-6 (Petty Officer First Class): State-licensed Dental Hygienists may qualify for this higher paygrade, with an earning potential of up to $116,000 annually. Responsibilities You will assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate preventive and therapeutic dental care under the supervision of a Navy Dental Officer, including: Performing periodontal therapy, such as scaling and root planing. Taking, processing, and interpreting dental radiographs. Applying fluoride, sealants, and other preventive treatments. Providing essential oral health education to patients. Documenting patient care and treatment outcomes meticulously. Maintaining high standards of infection control and supporting clinical quality assurance. Entry Pathways Explore various pathways to enlist: Licensed Civilian Pathway: Graduates of a CODA-accredited Dental Hygiene program with a state license may enlist directly at E-6. Recent Graduate Pathway: Recent graduates from a CODA-accredited program not yet licensed can enlist at E-4. In-Service Pathway: Current active-duty or Reserve Sailors can apply after meeting certain career milestones. Qualifications Requirements include: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from a CODA-accredited Dental Hygiene program. Meeting Navy medical, legal, and fitness standards. A recommendation from your program director.
