Join Our Team as a Locum Physician OB Hospitalist in Christiansburg, VA Empower Women's Health and Deliver Exceptional Care as a Locum Obstetrician Hospitalist! We are seeking dedicated and skilled physicians to provide vital OB hospitalist coverage, ensuring safe and compassionate care for mothers and their babies. Key Responsibilities: Provide OB hospitalist coverage with a focus on emergent GYN cases Collaborate effectively with other OBs, general surgeons, ER physicians, and in-house anesthesia teams Manage an average of 72 deliveries per month, with a patient load of approximately 600 assigned plus 40 unassigned patients Coordinate care for patients in a setting without an onsite Neonatal ICU but with access to Level 3B NICU at the main hospital Support labor and delivery teams, including in-house laborist coverage and private patient scheduling Respond promptly to emergent OB and GYN situations to ensure optimal patient outcomes Required Skills: Medical degree from an accredited institution Board Certification or eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology Valid medical license to practice in Virginia Proven experience in obstetric inpatient care, including labor management and emergent GYN procedures Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced hospital environment Nice to Have Skills: Experience working in a hospitalist setting or with high-volume obstetric practices Familiarity with Level 3B NICU operations Knowledge of hospital workflows and interdisciplinary collaboration Preferred Education and Experience: MD or DO degree Minimum of 2 years of obstetrics hospitalist experience Prior experience in a similar high-volume delivery setting Other Requirements: Availability to start on or around February 1, 2026 Commitment to providing exemplary patient care Willingness to work flexible shifts and respond to emergent situations Travel reimbursement, licensure, certification, and related expenses covered when applicable Must hold or be able to obtain Virginia medical licensure and necessary certifications This is an exceptional opportunity to serve a vibrant community while enjoying competitive compensation and comprehensive support from a dedicated team.
