Job DescriptionThis position is fully responsible for the project set up and billing process, including responding to client/internal management inquiries and verifying employees’ chargeable time; Provide assistance and support to the collections team in conducting collection efforts and achieving team objectives. The Project Accountant will report directly to the Director of Finance and will involve a variety of business functions, including but not limited to: Set up new projects promptly, including entering approved budgets and billing terms from contract/proposal documentsMaintain accurate billing folders for all projects, including source documents, expenses, consultant invoices, and monthly invoicesPrepare and review monthly invoices using Electronic Invoicing (EI) software, ensuring completeness of materials sent to clients and monitoring costs, accruals, and overagesCoordinate approval and processing of sub-consultant and sub-contractor billingCommunicate regularly with Project Managers (PMs) and Principals-in-Charge (PICs) regarding financial status, contract modifications, change orders, and client invoicing requirementsIdentify and pursue opportunities to maximize client billing with PIC or Division Leader approvalResearch and resolve unbilled issues to optimize billing for each periodCollaborate with Accounting to reconcile variances during cash application and assist with collection efforts as neededPrepare special project analyses and provide year-end audit support, including research and reconciliationPerform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager Qualifications: Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceExperience with project accounting and cost trackingIntermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and accounting software4+ years experience in billing and receivables, preferably in A/E or construction environmentKnowledge of standard contract terms, including hourly, lump sum, and not-to-exceed and how they are applied in the billing processAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environmentStrong business partnering abilityExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsTeam-first mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approachAbility to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completionKnowledge of the project structure in a client/consultant business environmentExperience with Deltek software is a plus Additional InformationFor more information, please visit SOCOTEC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
