Job Details - Travel Nursing / Neuro RN Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,890 - $1,990 (Travel Nurse / Travel RN) Location: Milwaukee, WI 53215 (Milwaukee healthcare, Wisconsin nursing jobs) Setting: Med-Surg Neuro Unit (IU 4KLM Neuro) — Med Surg Neuro / Neurology Nurse Role Facility Features: Magnet Designation, Level III Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Comprehensive Stroke Center Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 1, 2026) Shift: 12-hour Night Shifts (36 hours/week) Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend Orientation: 1 shift of unit training plus onboarding — ideal for first-time travelers Perks: Free parking, 24/7 security, winter shuttle services Required Qualifications — Neuro RN / Registered Nurse Minimum 1 year of recent Neuro RN experience (neurology nursing, stroke care, post-op spine) Active RN license (Wisconsin or compact RN) BLS certification (required) NIHSS certification (required) — stroke assessment EPIC charting experience (preferred) Ability to float to MSU, Telemetry, COVID units, Medical-Surgical overflow, and ED Holding as needed First-time travel nurses and experienced travel RNs encouraged to apply Key Responsibilities — Neuro Nurse Duties Perform focused neuro assessments and frequent neuro checks for patients with strokes, TIAs, seizures, and post-craniectomy care Manage patients after spine surgeries (fusions, discectomy) and provide post-surgical recovery nursing Care for complex medical overflow including wounds, chest pain, COVID, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, GI bleeds, and cellulitis Provide wound care, wound vac management, trach care (T-mist mask), drain/tube and incision care Support advanced respiratory needs including BiPAP and HFNC, and coordinate with RT for ventilatory care Preferred clinical skills: chest tubes, lumbar drains, strong IV skills, and cardiac rhythm interpretation (telemetry) Document pain scores and medication effectiveness in compliance with orders and facility standards Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurse, unit secretary, hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and centralized telemetry monitoring Adhere to fatigue policy: no more than 60 hours/week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts Why Join Our Team — Travel Nursing Benefits Work at a Magnet-designated hospital and Comprehensive Stroke Center — strong professional development for neurology nurses Supportive, team-oriented environment with centralized resources and robust orientation Competitive weekly pay for travel RN positions and local perks like free parking and shuttle services Opportunity to gain experience with EPIC charting, NIHSS assessments, and advanced neuro care Experience Milwaukee’s welcoming community and vibrant lakefront while advancing your neurology nursing experience.
