Title: Custodian / Sanitation Status: Non-ExemptJob Location: 70 Corporate Woods Dr.Reports to: Facilities Supervisor Job Summary:The Custodian / Sanitation Associate is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of office spaces, conference rooms, storage areas, and restrooms. This role ensures all assigned areas are consistently clean, organized, and presentable, supporting a professional work environment and a safe, compliant facility. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently while meeting established cleanliness standards.Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities: Clean all office spaces, conference rooms, storage rooms, and restrooms.Routine cleaning of office areas, dusting desks, wiping surfaces, vacuuming carpets, and mopping.Clean, sanitize, and restock all restrooms, ensuring supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, sanitary products) are consistently availableClean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, shared equipment, and conference room tablesMaintain storage areas by ensuring cleanliness, organization, and safe arrangement of materialsClean mirrors, windows, glass surfaces, and doors to maintain a professional appearanceRemove trash and recycle from all designated areas and dispose of waste properlyDocument completed cleaning tasks on logs and report any maintenance or repair needsIdentify and report safety hazards, damage, or deficiencies in a timely mannerMaintain cleaning supply areas and notify management when inventory replenishment is neededFollow all health, safety, and sanitation standards, including proper chemical handling and usagePerform periodic deep cleaning and special projects as assignedSupport overall facility cleanliness needs as directed by the Facilities Supervisor Qualifications: High School Diploma or completed GED required.Minimum of one (1) year of custodial, sanitation, or housekeeping experience, preferably in office environments. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a professional environmentKnowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals, and safe handling proceduresFamiliarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)Ability to operate standard custodial equipment (e.g., vacuums, floor scrubbers)Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periodsStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionEffective communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrate honesty, integrity, and commitment to the organization's mission Working Conditions / Physical Demands Work performed primarily in office and indoor facility environmentsFrequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pullingExposure to cleaning chemicals and suppliesUse of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required The impact you'll make:At the St. Louis Area Foodbank, we are working to build a stronger bi-state region by nourishing people, empowering communities, and transforming systems.
