Job Title: Material Handler Job DescriptionJoin a dynamic team in a steel facility that provides materials such as steel beams, rebar, stairways, glass doors, and windows to general contractors for building installations. As a Material Handler, you will be integral to maintaining inventory, locating materials for production orders, and preparing finished stock for shipment. You will also have the opportunity to learn to operate an overhead crane indoors.Responsibilities Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock. Record the location of inventory. Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying them against production orders. Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing the product. Document product shipment by recording units shipped. Operate an overhead crane indoors and accurately read a tape measure. Prepare rebar and steel for various departments. Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs. Participate in ordering or purchasing standard stock items by recommending additions or deletions to standard stock items or ordering replenishments within established procedures and limits. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed. Essential Skills 1+ years of inventory management experience. 2 years of experience as a material handler, warehouse worker, industrial forklift operator, crane operator, or in a construction yard. Ability to read and interpret work orders to pull parts for assembly. Proficiency in reading a tape measure to ensure parts are the correct length. Additional Skills & Qualifications Teamwork, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Must be able to walk and stand on feet for extended periods. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. Capability to crawl on hands and knees, climb a ladder, and work long hours. Training may occur on the 1st shift if needed. The facility consists of one large building with approximately 10 people on the 3rd shift. Dress requirements include steel-toed boots, jeans, and work-appropriate t-shirts or long sleeves, avoiding super baggy clothes. PPE such as safety glasses and gloves will be provided as needed.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlisle, IA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
