Material Handler Location: Worcester, MA Pay Rate: $22.00/hour Schedule: Monday-Friday | 40 hours/week 1st Shift | 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM (30-minute lunch) Position Summary: The Material Handler II performs a full range of material handling duties in a manufacturing environment, supporting production operations through the accurate movement, staging, and management of raw materials, equipment, and finished goods. This role builds upon Material Handler I responsibilities and requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required 1-3 months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience 7-9 months of training required to become proficient in all phases of the role Valid forklift operator certification/license required Ability to work independently after training Key Responsibilities:Material Handling & Production Support Select, move, stack, and stage bulk, bin, and specialized materials for production and storage areas Set up complex equipment and material configurations in support of production operators Check inventory levels on the production floor and supply materials as needed Weigh materials and products and record data on tags, labels, or production schedules Inventory & Systems: Perform limited inventory and warehousing functions, including cycle counts Receive and issue materials using SAP Retrieve, update, and maintain accurate inventory records Generate inventory and materials reports from SAP Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts and other mechanized or motorized equipment Unload, transport, and stack materials using lifting devices or manual handling Verify load capacity, balance, and safe operation of forklifts Safety & Procedures: Follow detailed procedures and standardized instructions for material handling Handle hazardous materials safely when assigned, including proper storage and movement Maintain knowledge of production layouts to place materials without detailed instruction Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of grain materials, equipment, and finished products Ability to distinguish between materials to meet production demands Familiarity with production plans, methods, and material handling techniques Basic computer skills, including keyboard use for inventory tracking Physical Requirements: Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Stand, walk, reach, and use hands for extended periods Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend Ability to talk, hear, and smell in a manufacturing environment Work Environment: Exposure to moving mechanical parts Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and non-weather-related heat Loud noise levels typical of a manufacturing facility Accountability & Supervision: Perform repetitive and routine assignments following established procedures Work under the guidance of a group leader or supervisor Receive general instructions for routine work and specific guidance for new tasks
