CAD Drafter

Job Title: CAD Drafter / Technical Documentation Specialist Location: Elk Grove Village, IL Employment Type: Full-Time We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Drafter / Technical Documentation Specialist to join our Technical Department. This is a great opportunity for someone with an associate or applied degree in engineering technology or drafting who is eager to grow into more engineering responsibilities over time. The ideal candidate is independent, organized, and has a strong attention to detail, with the ability to take ownership of documentation, CAD work, and daily support tasks with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities: Convert legacy 2D paper drawings into 3D CAD models using Autodesk InventorPrepare 3D models for CAM and CNC production Support Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and small product updates Maintain and create Bills of Materials (BoMs) and technical manualsDigitize and archive paper drawings to meet company and group standards Print and distribute accurate drawings and BoMs for production Update the ERP system (QuickBooks) with correct BoM and cost data Collaborate closely with the technical team for updates and revisions Respond to vendor and internal questions related to technical drawings Provide day-to-day support to production and address customer requests as needed Must-Have Qualifications: Associate or Applied Science degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (this is a must) Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently Experience converting 2D drawings to 3D models and adding missing dimensions Comfortable with documentation, drawing management, and hands-on support Nice-to-Have: Experience with Autodesk VaultFamiliarity with QuickBooks or other ERP systems Exposure to CAM software or CNC preparation processes Experience producing technical manuals and customer documentation Prior experience in a small manufacturing environment The Ideal Candidate: Is eager to learn and develop into a more advanced technical or engineering role Works well independently and takes initiative to solve problems Has excellent attention to detail and prides themselves on getting things right the first time Enjoys variety in their day and can juggle technical drafting with documentation and production support This is a plug-and-play role for someone who can hit the ground running and contribute immediately while also growing professionally in a supportive and international environment.
