Staff Accountant This is a full-time, one year role created to support the team during a defined business need. The position is fully integrated into the accounting team and includes full-time hours and benefits. Extension or future opportunities may be considered based on business needs and performance. The Staff Accountant will provide accurate financial information to owners, partners, lenders, and all other interested parties in a timely manner. Investigate and respond to questions and concerns raised by owners and management. Provide support for the year-end auditors. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions): This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may expand to include other duties and responsibilities based on business need. Review monthly general ledgers for assigned partnership portfolio, both on cash and accrual basis, reconcile to subsidiary ledgers, investigate discrepancies, and make necessary adjustments to ensure accurate financial results. Prepare financial reporting (monthly, quarterly and annually), distribute to interested parties in a timely manner, and respond to inquiries that are generated. Prepare and review audit workpapers, work with auditors during fieldwork, and review as well as record the necessary adjustments. Prepare cashflow calculations based on year-end results, determine priority of cash distributions in accordance with agreements and distribute accordingly. Update and maintain computerized fixed assets software and process depreciation. Provide financial information in connection with partnership budget preparation, enter final budget information into accounting software and update as required. Reconcile and record monthly bank statements and trustee activity. Review weekly payable reports for accuracy and monitor payment selections based on cash availability. Inform Management of cash shortfalls Reconcile monthly MBM Master account and Intercompany accounts Update & reconcile management fees Monitor real estate tax assessments and bills Other projects as determined by Accounting Manager Qualifications: Bachelors degree or 4 years of bookkeeping or related experience. Experience in Microsoft Office, Windows, Outlook, Sage, Excel (Intermediate to Advanced). Motivated and well-organized with attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a deadline driven environment. Ability to investigate and resolve problems in a timely manner. Possess strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with little supervision. Ability to read and interpret partnership and loan agreements. Ability to work additional hours as needed. Work Environment/Physical Demands: This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/printers, and filing cabinets. This position requires sitting, bending, stooping, or standing as necessary. Our offices are equipped with electronic desks for standing or sitting.
