MPD was the first public defender organization under this system. MPD is the largest single provider of trial level public defense services in the state of Oregon, with offices in both Multnomah and Washington counties. For more information on MPD and our work visit: MPD is currently searching for a Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll for MPD's 200+ employees using ADP Workforce Now, including preparing all required payroll and tax reports. Duties include reviewing timesheets for completeness and proper approval, preparing the payroll register for Controller review, uploading payroll information into NetSuite ERP, coding and entering bills for employee benefits, and generating final paychecks in accordance with State of Oregon requirements. The Payroll Specialist also produces payroll reports for management and confirms approval for overtime or paid time off. This position regularly communicates with employees, answering questions and notifying of any discrepancies in pay. The Payroll Specialist receives general supervision from the Controller. This position pays $21.67/hr - $34.54/hr. This is an in-office, full-time,non-exempt position. In addition to compensation, MPD also offers: Medical (choice of PPO or HDHP), Dental and Vision Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) Basic Life, STD, LTD and AD&D 401(K) - MPD will contribute 6% of your annual salary with full vesting after the completion of 5 years of service PTO - 24 hours upon hire and accrue monthly to 80 hours and increase to 120 hours starting at 24 months 10 paid holidays + 2 personal equity days 4 Mental Health Days per year Sick Leave - 48 hours upon hire and accrues monthly after the completion of six months of employment Position Qualifications Three to five years' experience in a payroll role Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent attention to detail and time management Strong mathematical and calculation skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Position Preferences Working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and NetSuite ERP Familiarity with Oregon's Frances Online system Knowledge of payroll, garnishments, and benefits distributions Certification or bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or payroll is a plus Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software Work Environment: MPD fosters a work environment that is friendly, cooperative, and respectful.
