Job DescriptionPosition: Heavy Equipment Technician (Forklift Mechanic)Pay Rate: up up to $35.00 per hourSchedule: M-F 8am - 4:30pmJob Description: Forward Air, Inc. is looking for a self-motivated individual to join the maintenance team as a full time heavy equipment technician. Duties include all aspects of vehicles, trailers, and other mechanical equipment of Forward Air, while adhering to the compliance of all Forward Air Policies, safe work practices, and high customer service. Core Duties & Responsibilities: Evaluate status of mechanical equipment, trailers and vehicles, and performs or schedules needed repairs Maintain equipment according to DOT regulations Perform routine truck, trailer, and/or forklift P.M.s Responsible for Hydraulic and Transmission repair Preventive maintenance LP fuel system diagnosis and repair Electrical system diagnostics and repair Conduct various analysis and inspections of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical systems to determine the most cost effective means of maintenance, repair, or replacement Maintain regular and dependable attendance Maintain work area, tools, and equipment Operate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools Perform minor building and facility maintenance Perform Data Entry in Maintenance Software to track repairs Keep shop and company tools clean and in good working order Other duties as assigned Requirements: Strong mechanical aptitude Have own tools and equipment Desire for a long-term career with an industry leading company Ability to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast paced environment Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (extended hours as required) Class A CDL a plus Skills: Ideal candidate will possess a "can do" attitude with a "will do" work ethic Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment Strong verbal and written communication skills Forward Air is an Equal Opportunity employer.About Us Since 1990, Forward Air has been a leading provider of ground transportation and related logistics services to the North American air freight and expedited LTL market.
