OSI Optoelectronics is seeking an Assembler to join their team. This individual will wire, solder and assemble microscopic components to make subassemblies or assemblies for laser systems and fiber optic products. They will also test the final product to see if it meets specification in accordance with the customer specification sheet, established procedures and/or specific instructions. ResponsibilitiesPerform wire bonding on a diverse range of device types and various laser packages (e.g., TO-can, butterfly, chip-on-submount, custom housings) using the specified wire bond configurations (wire type/diameter, loop profile, bond placement, pull requirements) Set up and operate dicing saw equipment to singulate laser bar material, special notched arrays, and substrates. Select approved blades, programs, and fixturing; verify cut paths, kerf, and depth; and handle wafers/bars using approved handling tools to prevent chipping, contamination, and ESD damage. Operate cap welding equipment to hermetically seal laser devices. Follow defined recipes and parameters, confirm fixture alignment, and complete weld cycles in accordance with process controls and safety requirements. Perform visual inspection of devices prior to vacuum bake and cap welding (e.g., verifying cleanliness, component placement, lid/cap fit, and any required pre-weld checks) called out in the traveler/work instruction. Follow established procedures, verify all equipment is calibrated/in date, workstations are ESD compliant (e.g., wrist straps, mats, monitors), and required preventative maintenance checks are completed and recorded. Aid in training lower-level assemblers on proper procedures and techniques, including demonstrating best practices for micro-assembly workmanship, ESD discipline, and documentation expectations. Complete production travelers and/or electronic records in real time, capturing required details (e.g., lot numbers, quantities, dates/times, equipment used, operator ID, rework, deviations) to maintain full traceability. Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business. QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant years of experience may be substituted for a degree. 1+ years of related experience in a manufacturing/production environment required. Must be able to assemble and inspect fiber optic components using microscopes and tools (e.g., tweezers, cutters). Excellent hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity are needed. Ability to work from written work instructions, drawings, and travelers required. Basic computer skills for data entry and recordkeeping (e.g., MES, spreadsheets, or similar systems) required. Must be comfortable with detailed, repetitive tasks and traceability requirements. Wire bonding experience is required; experience operating CNC and welding equipment is desired. Must be able to work with, and properly handle, lab chemicals such as epoxy, acetone, methanol, and propanol as per Company procedures. Must be a team player. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations. Base salary is one component of your total rewards package.
