1st Shift CNC Lathe Machinist Salary Range: $32.10 - $35.00 Hourly Position Type: Full Time Job Shift: 1st Shift Education Level: High School Description Summary Of Position This position is responsible for running various CNC Lathe equipment and providing technical assistance and oversight to other CNC machinists. This position also may operate the manual lathe equipment. This position is in Northstar's Operations Department, and reports to the Production Supervisor. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time position. Essential Duties And Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below. This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time. Set-up and run standard CNC turning centers, or with live tooling, to machine complex rotor craft housings. Produce High Quality at the Source. Coordinates effort with Quality Inspectors and data from CMM reports. Prove out new CNC programs during New Product Introduction (NPI). Team with Engineering to develop class leading manufacturing processes. Implement new technologies for our machining processes and work-holding solutions. Knowledge of materials, cutters, and cutting conditions. Participates in daily GEMBA and other Lean events. Adheres to required safety and housekeeping standards and practices. Helps schedule resources in areas to ensure daily work is achieved. Maintain highly efficient work processes using Lean principles to support cost reduction activity. Responsible for operating various CNC machines and equipment. Supervisory Responsibilities This position will not direct the work of any other employees. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong work ethic Attention to detail Experience with Fanuc and Mazatrol machine controls Experience with magnesium and aluminum castings is a plus Interface with MRP systems Good understanding of Microsoft Office products Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and 6-Sigma defect analysis Ability to work with all levels of workers in a team-oriented environment
