Salary: $20.89 - $22.74 Hourly Location : Boulder County, CO Job Type: Full-time Job Number: 6678(ZZ2) Department: Parks and Open Space Division: Youth Corps Opening Date: 03/12/2026 Closing Date: 5/25/2026 11:59 PM Mountain FLSA: Non-Exempt Description Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department is seeking to hire 11 Youth Corps Assistant Team Leader. Assistant Team Leader is a temporary, seasonal position with the Boulder County Youth Corps summer program. Assistant Team Leaders assist in supervising a team of up to 10 adolescents aged 14-17 at a variety of work sites for eight weeks and mentor the development of personal accomplishment, teamwork, and community service with their team members. This is a hourly, non-benefited position. The Youth Corps season will be June 1st through August 2026. This position will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm during training, and typicallyMonday - Thursday 7:30am - 5:00pm and Friday 9:00am - 11am during the season. This position will work out of Boulder or Longmont, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime). Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work. Examples of DutiesAssists the Team Leader with the management of the team, which includes the following duties: administration, project management, supervision and discipline, and evaluation of Corps members. Carries out other related duties as assigned by the Team Leader and/or Youth Corps staff Helps to explain, encourage, and monitor the site-specific work expectations of the Corps members under their supervision on a daily basis Assists with teaching and training Corps members in the skills necessary for them to successfully accomplish the site-specific work plans Helps the Team Leader work cooperatively with sponsoring agency personnel to develop and monitor site-specific work plans carried out by the Corps members under their supervision Assists with encouraging, training, and monitoring for safety on the work site and is trained to respond with CPR/First Aid in the event of an accident or emergency Helps keep accurate records on each Corps member, which include documentation of hours worked, incident reports, progress reports and evaluations, and logs of all observations and disciplinary actions Assists with maintaining the useful working condition and an accurate inventory of all tools used by the team; transports the tools if needed Helps facilitate all team meetings: assists with teaching or leading group activities designed to encourage the development of teamwork, conflict resolution, communication, goal setting, decision making, community service, and environmental education Works with the Team Leader in cooperation with Youth Corps staff to integrate job skills, life skills, and service to the community with the site-specific project work Performs related work, as required May be reassigned during emergency situations Required QualificationsPLEASE NOTE: When completing your application describe all relevant education and experience, as applications are assessed based on the required qualifications listed. Supplemental Information PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in the Youth Corps and/or experience working with youth. One summer of experience in parks, open space, trails, or landscaping. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Ability to supervise team of youth in the absence of Team Leader. Strong commitment to cultural responsiveness and inclusion. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical Requirements: Frequently lifts up to 30 lbs. and carries up to 50 feet; occasionally lifts up to 30 lbs. from floor to knuckle; frequently lifts up to 20 lbs. from shoulder to overhead; occasionally pushes and pulls items weighing up to 100 lbs.; occasionally performs bi-lateral lift of 30 lbs. and carries up to 50 ft.; frequently lifts up to 35 lbs. from waist level and lowers to floor. Frequently bends at waist, squats, kneels, shovels, and rakes. Occasionally climbs ladder; must be able to stand and balance on ladder; occasionally walks over uneven terrain. Alongside the Team Leader positions available, we also have available two Rover and one Experiential Education Rover positions. Please note that both have additional application requirements. Rover: We will hire two people to serve as roving Team Leaders (Rovers), who will fill in for sick or absent Leaders as needed. The Rovers will start May 20 and finish August 9 to assist the Field Coordinator in preparing for and wrapping up after the season. The Rovers should have familiarity with the use and maintenance of hand tools. Experiential Education Coordinator: We will hire one person to serve as an Experiential Education (EE) Coordinator, who will primarily deliver some of the EE lessons and coordinate the season's EE offerings, but who will also fill in for sick or absent Leaders as needed. The EE Rover will start May 6 and finish August 23 to prepare the EE program and assist the Field Coordinator in wrapping up after the season.
