Mammography Technologist Major Responsibilities: Patient/Customer contact The performance of mammography services/exams at South Suburban Hospital. Performance of procedure and radiation safety Demonstrate knowledge of follow-up procedures, documentation of follow-up to assure continuation of care Demonstrate willingness and ability to assist others. Demonstrate knowledge of institutional policies regarding patient care, fire safety, infection control and QI plan. Education/Experience Required: Graduate of approved radiology technology school - 3 to 5 years radiographic experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Competent in use of hospital computer systems - General knowledge of x-ray equipment ARRT registered, Mammography ARRT registered IEMA licensure CPR certified Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Able to adjust to flexible hours - Able to lift, push, pull 50 lbs. with assistance - Ability to communicate effectively This position will need to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated; i.e., understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for sign of normal aging; prior experience with various age groups is preferred. If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
