Job Title: Tube Laser Operator The Tube Laser Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient setup, operation, and basic maintenance of the BLM LT8 tube laser system to cut metal tubing and profiles according to work orders and engineering drawings. This position may work independently or as part of a team and must follow all company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards. Responsibilities Operate overhead cranes and/or wall-walker cranes using remote or pendant controls. Secure appropriate rigging devices for safely lifting tubing and raw materials. Transport raw materials and finished parts using cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment. Perform daily safety inspections and complete applicable equipment and workstation checklists. Set up and operate the BLM LT8 tube laser, adjusting cutting parameters to meet specifications. Load production programs and verify correct jaws, tooling, and machine settings for each job. Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings for accuracy. Inspect parts for accuracy using measurement tools. Monitor machine operation and perform basic troubleshooting. Perform routine maintenance tasks as needed. Utilize computer systems for documentation and work order management. Finish parts using grinders, sanders, or other tools as required. Label, package, and stage completed products for shipping. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Participate in required safety, quality, and job-specific training sessions. Essential Skills Assembly Saw operation Machine operation Mechanical skills Laser operation Blueprint reading Drill press operation Bandsaw operation Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience operating metal cutting saws or similar equipment preferred. Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measuring tools. Basic math and computer skills. Strong attention to detail and safety practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to perform tasks associated with medium work. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a non-climate-controlled metal and steel provider warehouse. Personal protective equipment such as steel-toed metatarsal boots, safety vests, long-sleeve safeguards, and hard hats are required and provided. The environment is loud due to metal being transported or cut by band saws and new lathe machines. Metal is not manufactured on-site but is cut prior to shipping to customers. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
