Job Description: The Production Assembler role is the core of the team that builds our industry leading x-ray spectrometers. Successful Production Assemblers will spend most of their hours working alone or in a small team to construct electro-mechanical assemblies from an in-house parts inventory system, and combining these assemblies to build our instruments. Core responsibilities: Use basic hand tools while following detailed work instructions to build assemblies with a high degree of precision. Understand and use a kanban inventory system with hundreds of different parts ranging from screws to 100lb metal plates. Keep a neat and orderly shared workspace so that others can safely work in the same vicinity, in line with our 5S standards. Take all required safety and tool training and maintain certifications Frequent responsibilities: Use benchtop and hand power tools such as impact drivers, belt sanders, and drill presses to modify or touch-up parts. Build simple circuitry according to detailed work instructions and wiring diagrams, using tools such as: soldering irons, crimps, ferrules, and screw terminals. Lift objects up to 50lb unassisted, and participate in team lifts of objects weighing up to 100lb or more. Participate in process improvements such as part redesigns, work instructions updating, and incorporating new designs into the instrument. Occasional responsibilities: Write new work instructions Use CAD and/or 3D printing to design jigs or new parts Participate in R&D projects Build non-production assemblies such as chairs, desks, shelves, and other storage solutions Conduct training on production tools and equipment Required Skills/Experience: Superb technical reading and reading comprehension skills in the English language Strong communication and problem solving skills Good time management Good fine motor control and hand eye coordination abilities Safe tool use skills Ability to meet an acceptable standard of cleanliness and organization Ability to multitask and work with frequent interruptions Experience using Google suite services(docs, sheets, etc.) High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred Skills/Experience: Experience with a variety of hand, power, and pneumatic tools An inclination to learning new skills and techniques Basic understanding of circuitry and electrical diagrams Experience with CAD and/or 3D printers Ability to troubleshoot complex systems Experience with an MRP system College level understanding of physics and engineering 0 - 5 years of experience in a production or assembly environment Experience in a manufacturing environment Experience working in a warehouse environment Associates or bachelors degree Forklift certification OSHA 29 Certification Work Schedule: M-F 8:00AM - 4:30PM Note from the hiring manager: EasyXAFS considers multiple paths to be an acceptable substitute for our job requirements.
