Medix - Plano, TX

Job Description

Role Overview This is not a traditional scheduling role. The function is significantly more complex and operationally driven, requiring strong coordination across multiple departments and workflows. Unlike most home infusion models—where dispensing schedules dictate infusion timing—patients and nurses at CSI determine infusion dates based on patient preference. These individualized schedules are then entered into internal systems (CareTend), which drive pharmacy fulfillment. Because this process is not fully automated, the role requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and continuity of care. Additionally, medications must be dispensed and delivered 4–7 days prior to the scheduled infusion, requiring constant monitoring and proactive follow-up. The team is continuously reconciling patient-driven infusion dates with pharmacy dispensing timelines, necessitating forward planning and ongoing adjustments. At its core, this role serves as a central coordinator of critical information across nursing, pharmacy, and operations. Key Focus Areas This position is responsible for maintaining alignment across: Patient infusion schedules Nursing coordination Pharmacy dispensing and delivery timelines Success in this role requires managing multiple moving parts simultaneously, rather than simply booking appointments. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Proactively manage and organize pre-established therapy schedules Plan and coordinate scheduling needs approximately 2–3 months in advance Monitor and adjust schedules based on therapy changes or patient needs Support new patient onboarding, including setup and documentation Coordinate across 3–4 operational workstreams simultaneously Work within a queue-based system while exercising strong judgment and prioritization Serve as a communication bridge between nursing, pharmacy, and operational teams Ensure medications are dispensed and delivered within required timeframes Ideal Backgrounds Candidates who tend to succeed in this role often come from: Intake or referral coordination roles Positions involving full-cycle patient management within infusion settings Home infusion or clinic-based infusion environments (strongly preferred) A pharmacy technician background is not required, but can be highly beneficial. Why This Role Matters Successful candidates understand how each step in the process connects, including: Authorization → Scheduling → Dispensing → Delivery While scheduling is a component of the role, it represents only ~20–30% of the day. The majority of the work focuses on coordination, reconciliation, and ensuring all operational pieces align to support timely and accurate patient care.
