Job Details Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890 Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry RN Location: A leading hospital in Asheville, NC 28801 (Asheville nursing jobs, North Carolina travel nursing) Unit: 4Heart, Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) - E Heart Tower Contract Duration: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36 Shift: 12-hour Days (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM) Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period On-Call: No call required Required Certifications & Qualifications Active RN license (North Carolina or compact state) - Telemetry RN / PCU RN experience required ACLS and BLS certifications (required) At least 1 year of recent stepdown/telemetry experience; Cardiovascular or CVICU experience preferred Experience caring for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) Proficiency with Cerner EMR (electronic medical record experience) Strong teamwork, flexibility, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment Responsibilities Provide nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgeries and medical cardiology overflow patients Manage cardiac drips & vasoactive infusions (e.g., phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine) Perform chest tube and epidural management, enteral tube feedings, and IV glucose/insulin management Maintain a patient ratio typically around 1:5 (PCU / stepdown staffing model) Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including RNs, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), and Health Unit Coordinators (HUCs) Float to other stepdown, med-surg units, or ER inpatient holding area as needed Adhere to unit guidelines and dress code (navy or white tops/navy bottoms, or all white) Why Work in Asheville A leading hospital in Asheville, NC is nationally recognized for patient safety and clinical quality.
