NICU Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel RN Contract | Level IV NICU | Madison, WI Travel NICU Registered Nurse needed at a Level IV NICU - 13-week contract at American Family Children's Hospital, Madison, WI. Job Details Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 - $2,130 Location: American Family Children's Hospital, Madison, WI 53792 (Madison, WI; Wisconsin travel nursing) Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 - August 3, 2026) Role: NICU Registered Nurse / Travel RN (Level IV NICU, neonatal nurse) Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (7:00am - 7:30pm), Monday through Friday Hours per Week: 36 Weekend Coverage: Required to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period Floating: Required to float to all AFCH units including PICU for patients less than 12 months of age Job Requirements Minimum 2 years NICU III/IV experience required, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU (neonatal nurse / NICU RN) Travel RN experience required (previous travel nursing assignments preferred) WI RN license or compact license (must be in hand at submittal) BLS and NRP certifications required (AHA) Experience with post-op neonatal patients, g-tubes, tracheostomy care, and invasive/noninvasive ventilation Epic charting system experience required (Epic EMR) Telemetry exam required prior to start (strict passing criteria) Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only) Responsibilities Provide high-quality care for critically ill newborns and infants in a 26-bed Level IV NICU (NICU RN responsibilities) Deliver patient- and family-centered neonatal care across the continuum, from admission to discharge Care for infants requiring advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services, including surgical and medical complexities Manage ventilators (invasive and noninvasive), g-tubes, tracheostomy care, and post-operative neonatal patients Perform neonatal assessments, monitor vital signs, and administer medications per protocol Support breastfeeding, lactation needs, and handle breast milk feedings Implement and follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, IV therapy, physical therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social services Float to other units as needed to care for patients less than 12 months of age (PICU coverage) Experience the best of Madison while working at a nationally recognized pediatric facility with Magnet designation.
