Job Summary: The HVAC Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems within the nursing home facility. This role ensures a comfortable and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing regular maintenance and emergency repairs on HVAC systems. The technician will also assist with other facility maintenance tasks as needed. Responsibilities: Cooling tower under repair and replacement line including compressors Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, heat pumps, and refrigeration units. Diagnose and repair HVAC system issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation. Replace or repair defective parts, including motors, thermostats, wiring, and other components. Respond to emergency HVAC situations promptly to restore service and ensure the safety and comfort of residents. Be on-call for after-hours emergencies as needed. Work closely with the nursing home staff to schedule maintenance activities that minimize disruption to residents. Communicate effectively with residents and staff to explain HVAC issues and repair status. Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services. Assist with general facility maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work as needed. Support the maintenance team with special projects and renovations. Education/Experience/Requirements High school diploma or GED required. HVAC certification from an accredited trade school or equivalent apprenticeship program. EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home environment. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including their operation, maintenance, and repair. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Proficiency with HVAC diagnostic tools and equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical ability to perform tasks that require climbing, bending, and lifting heavy objects. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
