JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: SEM Process Technician / FIB-TEM Process Technician Location: Albany, NY Duration: 12 Months (Long-term Temp, Possible TTH) Pay Rate: $30/hr W2 (HM open to higher for strong candidates) Shift: 12-Hour Compressed Schedule (Day or Night Shift; weekends required) Employment Type: Contract (W2) Job Description We are seeking experienced SEM Process Technicians and FIB/TEM Process Technicians to support semiconductor device analysis in a cleanroom environment. This role involves hands-on sample preparation, imaging, and documentation of nanostructures using advanced microscopy tools. Key Responsibilities SEM Process Technician Collect, prepare, image, and document semiconductor nanostructures Manage sample queues and engineering analysis instructions Perform sample preparation using hand cleave, micro-cleaver, and tweezers Sample highlighting including dilute Hydrofluoric Acid Imaging using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Collect compositional data using EDX Communicate results to Engineering teams Develop and optimize SEM analysis techniques Train users and maintain training/certification documentation Participate in continuous improvement initiatives Possible FAB operations support Key Responsibilities FIB/TEM Process Technician Collect, prepare, image, and document semiconductor nanostructures Manage sample queues and engineering instructions Lamella preparation using Focused Ion Beam (FIB) tools Sample prep for FIB stubs using hand cleave and tweezers Transfer grids to holders using tweezers Imaging using SEM, TEM, and STEM Collect compositional data using EDX and EELS Communicate imaging and compositional results Optimize preparation and analysis techniques Train users and maintain certification documentation Support continuous improvement of FIB operations Possible FAB operations support Required Qualifications BS degree in Physical Science or equivalent hands-on experience Strong hands-on experience with SEM and/or FIB/TEM/STEM Experience handling samples Comfortable working in cleanroom environments Experience takes priority over education Unrestricted right to work in the USA Preferred Qualifications Semiconductor industry experience strongly preferred Biological or medical microscopy experience acceptable Hitachi SEM experience preferred Hitachi / ThermoFisher non-automated FIB experience preferred ThermoFisher TEM experience preferred Experience with high-powered electron microscopes Failure Analysis or SEM/EDX technicians with CAD layout/metrology experience Physical Requirements Manual dexterity for handling small samples and tools Ability to lift/carry up to 35 lbs PPE required (safety glasses, shoes, bump cap, cleanroom garments) Ability to work nights (6pm 6am), weekends, and extended 12-hour shifts Frequent walking (10,000+ steps per shift), stair climbing, bending, and stooping Occasional travel to TEL factories, training facilities, or customer locations Additional Notes (For Recruiters) Please specify in summary notes whether candidate is a fit for SEM or FIB/TEM role Screening Question: How many hands-on hours has the candidate worked using SEM, FIB, or TEM tools?
