SUMMARYThe John Cooper School is currently seeking a Middle School French Teacher.The John Cooper School, located in The Woodlands, TX, on a beautiful 40-acre campus with a total enrollment of 1,300 students, is an independent, coeducational college preparatory day school serving students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. The Upper School (Grades 9-12) is a dynamic, caring, and collegial environment that fosters curiosity and joy in our learners. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach French courses in the Middle School World Languages Department; courses may include 06 French, 07 French 1A, and/or 08 French 1B.Advisor to a small group of Middle School students.Strong commitment to students' progress, success, and social-emotional well-being Commitment to student-centered pedagogies and authentic assessmentsKnowledge of current best practices in Middle School educationDemonstrated proficiency (speaking, writing, reading, listening) in French.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and desire to approach planning and innovation in a team environmentModel lifelong learning for students with an openness to and enthusiasm for learning and professional growthExcellent written and verbal communication skills with students, parents, and colleaguesStrong organizational skillsPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORMENT Required to walk; stoop, kneel or crouch; reach with hands and armsGenerally, the job requires 10% sitting, 90% walking, and standingMust occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 poundsClassroom work environmentPOSITION REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in French education or related field is required; Master's degree preferredMinimum of three (3) years applicable classroom teaching experience; independent school experience preferredCandidates should strongly identify with the School's mission, philosophy, and goalsApplication Materials Requested:ResumeCover LetterPhilosophy of EducationList of three References - two professional and one personal (we will not contact references without candidate permission) The John Cooper School seeks to attract qualified individuals of diverse backgrounds to its faculty, staff and student body.
