Once you apply, we'll reach out to schedule a time to talk more about this opportunity.Pay Range: $31.00 - $35.00/hrSchedule: Full-Time | Monday - FridayLocation: Portland, ORIndustry: Transportation / Trailer Repair & Fleet MaintenanceDescriptionWe are seeking a hands-on, self-directed Trailer Repair Technician to support our growing trailer division. This position splits time between performing on-site DOT inspections and light trailer repairs in the field and completing trailer repair and fabrication work in the shop.This is not an automotive mechanic role. The focus of this position is trailer systems, including brakes, air lines, suspension components, wiring, landing gear, and structural steel repairs.This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working independently, diagnosing issues in the field, and performing a mix of mechanical repair and fabrication work. If you enjoy problem-solving and working both in the shop and on customer sites, this is a great opportunity.Key ResponsibilitiesField Service Responsibilities (2-3 Days per Week)Perform DOT trailer inspections at customer locationsAdjust brakes and replace brake chambersDiagnose and repair air line leaks and fittingsReplace ABS sensors and related wiring componentsTroubleshoot and repair trailer lighting systemsPerform minor suspension and landing gear repairsDocument inspection findings and prepare clear repair notes and estimatesShop ResponsibilitiesPerform trailer structural repairs, including crossmembers, rails, and floorsReplace or repair suspension components and landing gear assembliesDiagnose and repair trailer wiring and lighting systemsPerform light fabrication and welding workAssist with general trailer repair and maintenance alongside the shop teamQualifications & SkillsExperience with trailer repair or fleet trailer maintenance preferredWelding, fabrication, or mechanical repair experienceAbility to diagnose mechanical issues independently in the fieldStrong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate professionally with drivers and customersComfortable working without constant supervisionAbility to document work clearly and accuratelyPreferred BackgroundsTrailer repair or fleet maintenance experienceWelding or fabrication workFarm equipment, heavy equipment, RV repair, or field service experienceMechanical roles requiring independent troubleshootingWork EnvironmentCombination of field service work and shop-based repairsRegular travel to customer sites for inspections and minor repairsIndustrial shop environment with active trailer repair operationsWork performed under trailers and around heavy equipmentTeam-oriented environment with a strong focus on quality and safetyCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly wage based on experienceOpportunity for training in DOT inspection procedures, air brake systems, and ABS diagnosticsStable full-time position with long-term career potentialHands-on role with strong autonomy and responsibilitySupportive team environment within a respected trailer repair divisionIf you are a mechanically inclined professional who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and performing both field and shop repairs, we'd love to hear from you.
