Automation Engineer

Summary / Objective The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing automated systems in the glass automotive manufacturing plant. This role ensures the efficient operation of automated equipment, troubleshoots technical issues, and enhances process reliability. The Automation Engineer works closely with production, maintenance, and IT teams to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality through advanced automation solutions.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Support specifying HMI/software features and manufacturing equipmentTesting, start-up, debugging, and trouble shootingSupport upgrading current assembly lines, machinery, jigs, fixtures to improveProcess control (error proofing)User-friendliness on Human Machine Interface and self-diagnosticsData-collectionStart-up/setting instructionsEnhance knowledge of electronics/control systems etc. within IRS/USAThe control engineer will be the specialist for electronics/PLC and robot software Quality lead-time and cost control for each task assignedProgramming, debugging and startup of new automated assembly machinery, robots and Human-Machine-InterfacesWrite/change documentation for start-up/setting calibration of machineryContinuous improvement actions (Kaizen) to optimize processes of the current machinery park by improving Human-Machine-Interface, adding error proofing, vision, and debugging. This is needed reduce WIP, down time, wasteful scrap and rework.Communication with internal functions, suppliers, and the customerSkill at Allen Brandely PLC preferredSkill at KUKA Robot preferredSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNone at this time QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Must have worked successfully in several automation projects for the manufacturing industry (automotive and robot projects preferred).Good analyzing skills for trouble shooting and for solving technical problems.Must have sound knowledge of automation techniques, machine control systems, programmable logic controllers, pneumatics and computer programming.Preferred knowledge about (M) OSHA electrical/electronics requirements and automotive EMC requirements.Good communication skills, both written and oral.Able to work on several issues simultaneous; able to set-up a good planning for projects/running operations; can work under pressure.Education And/Or ExperienceBachelor of Science or Engineering in an Electrical/Automated Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering field. 3 years of automotive industry maintenance experience and hands-on experienc preferred.Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin required.
