Job Description Manager, Cytology Austin, Texas (Relocation Available) Tuesday - Saturday | 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM Full-Time | Onsite | Full Benefits The Position We are seeking an experienced Cytology Manager to lead daily operations of a busy, high-quality laboratory. This role ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and an environment of continuous improvement. The Manager provides direct supervision to technical staff, oversees workflow, and ensures turnaround time and quality standards are consistently met. This is a full-time onsite role based in Austin, TX. Relocation assistance may be available for the ideal candidate. Flexibility for weekend, holiday, and after-hours coverage is required. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily cytology laboratory operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Manage scheduling, workflow coordination, and staffing coverage. Supervise laboratory personnel - including training, competency assessments, performance evaluations, and coaching. Maintain staff certifications and training to meet regulatory requirements. Monitor and achieve turnaround time (TAT) and key performance indicator (KPI) goals. Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, and internal quality standards. Contribute to SOP development, training programs, and quality improvement initiatives. Support budget and inventory planning for supplies, staffing, and equipment. Perform technical review of slides, stains, and methodologies, troubleshooting when needed. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability across lab functions. Collaborate cross-functionally to support operational goals and smooth lab operations. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership. Who You Are Deep understanding of CLIA, CAP, and regulatory standards. Proven leadership and team development skills in a fast-paced lab environment. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Education & Experience Required: BA/BS degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science (Cytotechnology preferred). Required: Minimum 5 years of experience in a cytology or clinical laboratory. Preferred: Prior leadership or supervisory experience. Required: ASCP certification.
