Teachers agree to play a substantial role in conveying the Catholic Church's message and carrying out its mission.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:Child-Centered InstructionDesign and facilitate developmentally appropriate learning experiences for pre-school aged children that encourage exploration, creativity, and problem-solving.Use inquiry-based learning and project work to build on children's interests and natural curiosity.Provide opportunities for hands-on learning through art, sensory exploration, nature, and open-ended materials.Support early literacy, numeracy, language development, and social-emotional growth through play and guided discovery.Foster independence, confidence, and collaboration among students.Reggio-Inspired EnvironmentCreate a classroom environment that reflects the Reggio Emilia philosophy, viewing the environment as the "third teacher."Use natural materials, open-ended resources, and thoughtfully designed spaces to inspire creativity and exploration.Observe children closely and document their learning through photos, notes, and displays that make learning visible.Develop long-term projects that emerge from students' interests and questions.Observation & DocumentationObserve and document student learning, growth, and development.Use documentation to reflect on teaching practices and guide future instruction.Share children's work and learning processes through classroom displays, portfolios, and communication with families.Relationship BuildingBuild strong, supportive relationships with students that promote emotional security and a sense of belonging.Participate as a member of our community and teaching team in which collaboration, dialogue, and exchange are practiced valuesPartner with families through regular communication, conferences, and classroom engagement opportunities.Classroom Environment & ManagementMaintain a safe, welcoming, and organized classroom that promotes independence and exploration.Guide children in developing positive social skills including cooperation, empathy, and respectful communication.Model patience, kindness, and problem-solving strategies.Supporting Diverse LearnersUse observation and assessment to identify individual strengths and areas of growth.Collaborate with parents, specialists, and school staff to support children who may benefit from additional interventions or accommodations.Implement strategies that support social-emotional development, self-regulation, and positive behavior.Foster a classroom culture that values joy, empathy, patience, and respect for each child's unique gifts and abilities.Key DispositionsBelieves children are capable, curious, and full of potential.Values relationships as the foundation of learning.Demonstrates creativity, patience, and reflective teaching practices.Works collaboratively with colleagues and families.Education and ExperienceMinimum of a completed Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferredCandidates must hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or a valid out of state certificate from a state with which Illinois has reciprocity.
