Pay Range $18.00-$19.00Position Title: Assistant Grocery ManagerReports To: Store ManagerJob Objective:The Assistant Grocery Manager will be accountable for the assisting in the overall management and direction of the processes associated with the day-to-day functions of the sales floor. This position will uphold company standards throughout all areas of the store (inside and outside), remaining aware of customer needs, monitoring and ensuring fast, accurate, and friendly service at cash registers and on the retail floor. Under the direction or in the absence of the store manager, the assistant manager is responsible for carrying out the duties of the store manager. The assistant manager will direct the operation of the store in accordance with company policy and procedures, to maximize store profits, to have a significant impact on store operating expenses and sales volume. The assistant manager is also responsible for providing the foundation and guidance for employees to achieve maximum success and personal motivation. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Assist the manager with daily operation of the store, including but not limited to; scheduling employees, lead employees, resolve general maintenance issues and maintain store cleanliness.Help maintain the internal electronic price book.Provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer complaints or issues.Assist in training new employees and monitor performance, providing coaching when needed.Inform supervisor of equipment breakdown or adjustments required.Manage inventory levels and ensure accurate stock counts.Handle cash management including opening, operating, and closing registers, preparing deposits, and reconciling cash drawers.Maintain a clean and customer friendly environment inside and outside the store.Protect store assets by being aware of security processes, checking ID's when appropriate, and being alert and aware of the behavior of people in the store.Must be available to cover shifts as needed.Merchandising shelves, endcaps, and dynamic displays.Responsible to be the backup meat cutter to fill in for absences, training will be provided. Managing and participating in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock.Adhere to all City, County, and State regulations, policies, laws, and ordinances.Maintain and develop Staples Enterprises, Inc's corporate image and reputation via ethical activities, confidentiality, and great customer service.Continuous improvement through self-development and educational training; attend all training sessions required by law and the Company.Qualifications of the Position:Previous retail/customer service experience preferred.High School diploma or equivalent.Must be 18 years of age.Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, and HolidaysExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience with cash register operations and cash handling along with basic math skills for inventory management and cash handling.Strong organizational and administrative skills.Physically able to perform light to medium lifting (50 lbs.), pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, and walking.Ability to stand for several hours at a time.Frequent use of hands to handle products, objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms.Exposure to outside weather conditions and walk-in coolers and freezers frequently.Ability to handle raw, frozen, and cooked food products.Ability to work with nuts and other allergens.General description of benefits offered:Health Insurance and Dental Plan.Section 125 Cafeteria PlanAccrued paid-time-off.401K benefits with employer match.
