The Quality Assurance Specialist II makes an impact by - The Quality Assurance Specialist II is responsible for auditing and maintaining compliance with quality assurance, food safety, and sanitation programs. Assisting the QA and Sanitation Coordinators, this position will support plant operations by working closely with department management to provide technical support on production and warehouse processes and procedures. * Assist with the development and implementation of all QA and Food Safety programs for the plant operations. * Monitor all employees, through formal plant inspections or other methods, to confirm they comprehend and are following their duties within the guidelines of the Company QA and Food Safety programs. * Work with Regulatory and other external personnel on inspections, investigations, and audits involving processes and products. * Coordinate, along with other departments, the compliance of all external vendors to the Food safety standards and the removal all non-conforming ingredients or packaging. * Monitor quality conformance on finished products, including sensory evaluations as required. * Assist the QA Support staff to monitor and research consumer or other complaints, determine and suggest correction(s), and report out to involved management. * Responsible for trending and other QA reports as required. * Responsible for monitoring all CIP systems, bulk chemical handling systems and all related sanitation related programs for the Company. * Responsible for making all changes and updates to CIP and other sanitation related programs. * Submit and monitor all work orders on these systems and track them to completion. * Responsible for the inventory, tracking and budget for all chemical expenditures. * Responsible to oversee and participate in the training for employees and to confirm that all materials, including MSDS, are up to date and relevant. * Run and analyze all required reports and perform audits of systems, procedures and practices of CIP systems. * Conduct annual GMP Training Classes for all associates. * Support the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Food Safety & Quality. * Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and FSMA guidelines as well as all safety regulations. * Comply with Safe Quality Foods (SQF) food safety and quality standards. * Perform all other duties as assigned You could be a great fit if you have these things - * Bachelor's degree in a science related field (Food Science, Dairy Science or Microbiology preferred) with one (1) year related experience; or two (2) year in a lab/plant setting. * Strong communication skills (written and oral). * Strong analytic and computer skills. * Quality certification (SQF, PCQI, etc.) upon hire or the ability to acquire as directed. Physical Demands - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. * The employee is required to talk and/or hear in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are high (PPE required). * The employee is required to wear mandated PPE based on assigned job area. * The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an manufacturing environment for 8+ hours. * The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs, and where applicable and when necessary, to perform various job-related tasks. * Must be able to position self to move, reach with arms/hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform various job-related tasks. * The employee must be able to inspect all job-related equipment (office or floor) to ensure it is in good working condition prior to use. Must be able to use hands/fingers to handle (or feel) to operate various types of office equipment. * Must be able to operate all job-related equipment (powered, hand or office) as required. * Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus. * Ability to lift 50 pounds and/or push/pull 50 pounds on a regular basis.
