Position Type: Administration/ALT SCHOOL DIRECTORDate Posted: 2/26/2026Location: Compass Education CenterAlternative School DirectorPosition Purpose Will assume supervisory responsibilities for the secondary alternative program. Persons applying for this position should have a strong background in education, including, but not limited to, administration, teaching and learning, and counseling.Essential Job FunctionsDevelops and sustains a guiding vision and mission that drives the program's overall quality.Is passionate, innovative, competent, and experienced in leadership.Engages in opportunities to promote program success and strategically include community and business partners.Commits to the full implementation of the school's core values.Utilizes and engages in a collaborative approach that ensures shared decision-making, high expectations, and continuous monitoring of program quality.Creates a safe, caring, positive, and orderly climate and culture.Maintains high expectations for students and staff.Hires, evaluates, and retains effective, innovative, and qualified individuals.Ensures that instructional practices and curriculum are rigorous and inclusive, supporting the needs of all learners.Stays current on best-practices in alternative education.Helping set and communicate the vision, mission, and goals.Overseeing and providing day-to-day instruction with both online and offline coursework.Maintaining a safe, caring, and positive environment at the school.Providing regular updates on progress to high school administrators, district-level administrators, and to the Board of Education.Communicating expectations with parents and students upon entering the program.Organizing staff meetings and professional development, and arranging and supervising on-the-job learning opportunities.Serving as the main contact for business and community partners.Monitoring the program's progress toward meeting its goals and making changes as needed.Equipment Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copiers and fax machines, a calculator, and a telephone.Travel Requirements Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.Pay RatesAdministrative Pay Schedule.Work Schedule 260 days per year.
