Sheet Metal Technician (Drilling)Location: Merritt Island, FLIndustry: Aerospace / ManufacturingPay Rate: $42-46/hrEmployment Type: 6-month assignment with potential for extension or conversionShift: D Shift - Friday to Sunday, 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM(Additional shifts available)Summary:As part of the structures team, you will be involved in precise drilling and assembly using both manual and power feed drills and specialized large-scale structural assembly. Your expertise will include working with both metallic and composite materials, performing detailed processes like drilling, deburring, and assembling large components. Additionally, you will be responsible for surface preparation, fixturing components, and the alignment of structural parts, ensuring they meet stringent specifications. Your role will involve maintaining fabrication methods and specification requirements to maintain high-quality construction using various materials and techniques. Required Qualifications:Minimum of High School Diploma or GED5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, structures, or a related fieldDemonstrated experience drilling precision, close-tolerance holesExperience inspecting holes for diameter, roundness, straightness, and tolerance compliance using precision measuring toolsFamiliarity with manual drills, power feed drills, and/or Quackenbush drillsExperience installing aerospace structural fasteners (bolts, rivets, Hi-Loks, lockbolts, blind fasteners, etc.)Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings and specificationsExperience using precision calibrated tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser trackers, and optical measuring instrumentsAbility to lift 50 lbs and comfortable working at heights, including climbing ladders and operating scissor lifts or boom liftsExperience with surface preparation, deburring, fixturing, and structural alignmentProficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applicationsMust be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted refugee/asyleeDesired:Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related fieldKnowledge of precision assembly processes for large aerospace componentsStrong technical skills and attention to detail in complex integration tasksEffective communication and collaboration skills in a team environmentContinuous improvement mindset focused on safety, quality, and efficiencyLean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certificationWillingness to work overtimeResponsibilities:Drill precision holes to tight tolerances in accordance with engineering drawings and specificationsInspect drilled holes to verify tolerance, size, and quality requirementsInstall structural fasteners per aerospace standards and torque specificationsOperate manual drills, power feed drills, and Quackenbush drilling equipmentConfigure production work areas with required tooling, fixturing, and equipmentSafely perform work at heights using ladders, work stands, scissor lifts, and boom liftsOperate material handling equipment and precision calibrated tools as requiredPerform surface preparation, sealing, painting, composite layup, minor repairs, and testingAssist with payload, hardware, and vehicle assembly and installationMaintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principlesIdentify and support continuous improvement initiativesOther duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the missionEOE/ADAIND123
