Senior Engineer, System Planning

**Senior Engineer, Transmission System Planning /(Eversource Energy Service Company/) Hartford, CT:** Develop and maintain the system models for transmission studies including collection, review and/or modification of a variety of electric system parameters: equipment ratings, impedances, contingency sets, protection and control parameters, as well as system topology/. Conduct adequacy assessments and develop options to meet delivery objectives with latitude for independent action and decision making/. Typical reliability studies include analyses of power flow, transient stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transients/. Identifies key technical issues and develops solutions/. Responsible for understanding, interpreting and applying federal, regional /(ISO/-NE/) , industry and corporate transmission planning standards and the regulations of Federal, State and Local authorities/. Participate with other utilities and the planning staff of the Independent System Operator /(ISO/) in the preparation of regional transmission expansion studies/. Collaborate with engineers in System Planning, Transmission Asset Strategy, and personnel in Electric Operations in performing analyses and providing technical support in planning/. Train junior staff in technical analyses and procedures/. Min req: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related quantitative field and at least five /(5/) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related occupation, including five /(5/) years of experience with each of the following: Power system transmission analysis tools: TARA, ASPEN, and PSSE or PSCAD; Python; Applying electrical theory for planning electrical power supply systems; and Working with federal, regional, and local planning standards; OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related quantitative field and at least three /(3/) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related occupation, including three /(3/) years of experience with each of the following: Power system transmission analysis tools: TARA, ASPEN, and PSSE or PSCAD; Python; Applying electrical theory for planning electrical power supply systems; and Working with federal, regional, and local planning standards/.
