Land O'Lakes, FL Order: 85352 Order Type : Temp PART-TIME UTILITIES INSPECTOR32 HOURS A WEEK - 4 - 8 hour daysPAY RATE: $25.12/HR. LOCATION: Wesley Chapel or Land O'Lakes, FloridaSupervisory and technical work with administrative responsibility for management of the County's utility system maintenance activities and programs. Responsible inspection work in quality control of utility projects to assure compliance with all County ordinances under the enforcement of the inspector and the County-approved construction drawings.Essential Job FunctionsInteracts with engineers and contractor representatives to ensure standards are met. Ensures that required testing is performed. Prepares daily reports of construction activity. Investigates citizen complaints relating to utility construction. Prepares correspondence relating to projects (letters, punch lists, etc.). Tabulates and verifies contractual quantities installed for payment to contractor. Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and push or pull heavy objects. Performs related work as required.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of public works and/or utilities construction procedures and materials.Ability to interact with local contractors and engineers.Ability to formulate concise inspection reports.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.Ability to read for comprehension.Mininum RequirementsPHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication. Ability to bend, squat, stoop, climb frequently, and walk over uneven ground. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Ability to enter underground structures for inspection purposes.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. College coursework in construction or engineering technology preferred. Four (4) years in a responsible position with a contractor, engineer, or government entity performing utilities projects or inspections. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
