Work Schedule:40 hour work week7:30 am - 3:30 pm daily, Monday - Friday189 work days composed of 177 teaching days and 12 in-service daysRequirements:Full time faculty must have a minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or universityTranscript of all undergraduate and graduate studiesA current ACSI certificate is required for employment This requirement must be met before the start of the school yearA new teacher is permitted to apply for a Temporary certificate and renew at the Temporary level one time onlyAll teachers must hold a minimum of a Standard certificate before the start of their 5th year of employment at NCSState Teaching Certificate is preferredExpectations:Spiritual:Demonstrate in speech, actions and attitude a consistent walk with Jesus Christ as outlined in the Northside Christian School Doctrinal Statement of Faith & Covenant and the Models of Truth documentBe consistent in personal reading and studying of the BibleHave an ongoing involved relationship in a local churchBe available to be used by the Holy Spirit for the spiritual encouragement of students and fellow teachers and staff membersShare personal faith with studentsBe on time for and attend faculty/staff devotions as scheduledDemonstrate a positive spirit which searches for the best in students and colleaguesTeaching:The teacher has the major responsibility of instruction in the assigned curriculum area.Create a nurturing classroom environmentDemonstrate effective communication with students, regularly teaching to a variety of learning stylesTeach regularly scheduled classes assigned on the Master ScheduleBe informed and aware of the academic, spiritual and social development of each assigned studentEmploy those instructional aids, methods and material that will provide for creative teachingInsure that adequate preparations have been made to accomplish the objectives established in classes assignedPlan broadly through the use of semester plans and objectives and more currently through the use of the Lesson PlanMaintain adequate records of attendance and grades to meet state and administration requirements and in order for teacher to have personal knowledge of student's progressMake homework assignments meaningful and necessary, challenging and reasonable, keeping family and church responsibilities in mindIn electronic form, update weekly assignments and grades and regularly communicate with parentsAttend and participate in scheduled in-service daysAttend and participate in scheduled departmental meetings and general faculty meetingsRequest instructional aids and materials for classroom useBe willing to update curriculum as neededPlan, through approved channelsField tripsGuest lecturersOther media for creative and interesting teachingNon-teaching:Each teacher is directly responsible to the Principal for extra-curricular job related responsibilities as assigned, including, but not limited to:Keep records of textbooks assigned to studentsKeep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premisesMaintain open and helpful communications with students' parentsSupervise student activities as assigned by administrationMaintain accurate record of personal attendanceAttend regularly scheduled student chapelsAttend meetings, school sponsored parent meetings, graduations, annual banquets, fundraisers, school events and on occasion, NBC events, as requiredAttendance is encouraged at student athletic events, competitions and fine arts programs
