Powered by Care.Classification: Non-ExemptPay Rate: $23.00 - $26.00Essential Duties:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Gas Fitters/Fusers install, inspect, repair and maintain gas lines and gas equipment such as meters and regulators. The Gas Fitter/Fuser must perform all Laborer essential duties and responsibilities.Role and Responsibilities:Assists crew leader in construction, reconstruction and maintenance workAssists equipment operators by swamping, hand digging and locating underground obstructionsWorks with specialized equipment including fusion machines, jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners and other industry toolsSignals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materialsWorks safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers and dump truckCleans and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazardsPerforms plastic pipe fusion including socket, butt, mechanical, saddle and electro-fusionTaps and stops plastic and steel gas fittingsPerforms cathodic protection work including installation of anodes, test leads and pipe to soil measurementsLoads and unloads materials, tools, and equipment onto and from trucks by handInstalls gas meters, regulators, piping and pipe fitting work with black iron pipeRepairs gas leaks including above ground meter sets and piping and below ground steel and plasticKeeps legible, hand-written, accurate records including daily work logs and installation recordsPOSITION REQUIREMENTSOne (1+) plus years experience working with underground utilities is requiredAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basisAdditional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:Fitter certification is requiredPossession of a valid Driver's License is requiredCandidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, a Background check, and a pre-employment drug screenNotes:The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.
