The building technician supports the customer's mission for 100% facility uptime by installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading facility systems. The position requires strong technical skills and routine hands-on work on a variety of facility systems and equipment in critical and non-critical environments, utilizing several trade skills such as Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) , plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting and patching, and light carpentry. Key Roles & Responsibilities Directly or through others, the incumbent will:Ability to make appropriate adjustments to control systems.Provide primary troubleshooting to all building-related issues.Respond to building emergencies on an as needed basis.Independently perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment, (adjusting, lubricating, and repairing) and monitoring Automatic systems to ensure optimal HVAC and control system performance.Conduct general maintenance and repair work for all facility equipment, as well as the building infrastructure.Make minor plumbing, HVAC, and electrical repairs, and determine when a specialized vendor is required..Perform basic lighting and electrical work and determine when an electrician is required. Complete work orders, task lists, and document all work performed in a timely efficient manner.Hang pictures, whiteboards, TVs and dismantle/install cubical furniture as needed.Participate in after-hours call list.Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements. Skills Possess adequate computer skills utilizing MS Office Suite applications and the ability to use all functions of a smart phone.Good written and oral communication skills.Willingness and aptitude to learn new skills through on-the-job experience, as well as through formal and informal training.Education and ExperienceThe minimum education:High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.Applicants who have completed trade school in electrical, mechanical, and/or HVAC discipline are encouraged to apply.Strong mechanical aptitude, with experience in general building maintenance, building automation systems, and electrical and mechanical repairs including HVAC.Ability to read one lines, and schematics.Ability to complete all tasks independently, properly, and on time.Ability to read blueprints.Job AttributesAbility to competently use hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measurement devices to perform service on equipment .Ability to lift 75 pounds, work in tight or confined spaces, work with lifts and ladders, and perform rooftop work.Ability to detect emergency alarms- auditory and visual.The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high places, and in outside weather conditions.Measures of SuccessFacilities will be maintained in good condition to support the critical needs of Woodall Rodgers facilities as assigned.Effectively conduct maintenance and renovation activities to avoid interference with daily operations.Timely and accurately maintain equipment maintenance to ensure they are kept current and equipment maintenance is completed on schedule as defined within each agreement.Timely and accurately respond to emergencies to ensure the response times are within guidelines when activated.Ensures work is performed according to accepted safe work practices and procedures.BenefitsAt Oncor, we offer a comprehensive set of benefits, compensation and performance management programs designed specifically to attract, retain, motivate and reward our high-performing workforce.
