The OpportunityInCharge Energy is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to oversee key accounting and financial operations as the company continues to grow. This role will be responsible for supporting financial reporting, inventory accounting, compliance, and internal controls while helping strengthen financial processes and reporting infrastructure.The Financial Controller will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the day-to-day operational accounting functions of the organization. This role will partner closely with the Director of Accounting and senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support the financial health and scalability of the company. The role will also support financial planning and analysis activities as needed by providing reporting insights and operational financial support.What You'll DoOperational Accounting LeadershipOversee core operational accounting functions including purchasing, accounts payable, payroll, month-end close, lease accounting, project costing, and revenue recognitionEnsure accurate and timely completion of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesMaintain strong financial controls and accounting procedures across operational accounting activitiesPartner with operational leaders to ensure project costing, inventory management, and revenue recognition processes are accurate and aligned with company policiesInventory & Cost AccountingOversee accounting processes related to inventory and cost accountingManage inventory valuation methodologies and maintain appropriate obsolescence reservesSupervise quarterly and annual inventory counts and ensure proper reconciliationMonitor inventory-related financial controls and reporting accuracyCompliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with governmental and regulatory requirements across all relevant jurisdictionsOversee filings related to property taxes, business registrations, sales tax, and GSTSupport internal and external audits, including responding to inquiries and tracking resolution of findingsCoordinate the annual audit process and support preparation of multi-state tax filingsIdentify risks and opportunities related to financial reporting and recommend process improvementsProcess Improvement & SystemsImprove financial processes, reporting structures, and accounting workflows as the company scalesSupport system improvements and financial infrastructure developmentTraining & Team DevelopmentTrain, mentor, and develop accounting staff to strengthen technical accounting capabilities and operational excellenceProvide guidance on accounting policies, financial processes, and internal control proceduresFinancial Reporting & AnalysisBuild and maintain reporting structures that support both US GAAP financials and executive leadership reportingAnalyze financial results to identify trends, variances, and operational opportunitiesPhysical and Environmental DemandsInclude but are not limited to the following: working in an office environment, sitting for extended periods, using computers and other office equipment, occasionally lifting and moving files and documents, attending meetings, and working under tight deadlines.Your Experience and CapabilitiesBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field requiredMaster's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field preferredCPA license requiredAdditional certifications such as CMA, CIA, or CA are a plusStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting toolsDeep understanding of US GAAP accounting standards5-10 years of progressive accounting experienceExperience leading inventory accounting, cost accounting, or financial reporting functionsExperience working with regulatory compliance requirementsExperience coordinating with internal and external audit teamsExperience working in small business or high-growth operational environments preferredStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentHigh attention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesPreferred ExperienceMicrosoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experienceExperience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERPStrong background in inventory cost accountingExperience building and producing monthly financial reporting packages for both US GAAP financials and executive leadershipExperience supporting operational accounting functions including purchasing, accounts payable, payroll, project costing, and revenue recognitionUS Salary Range$120,000-$140,000 USDWhat We OfferFull-time employees enjoy competitive compensation and benefits package including 401(k) matching contribution, health, dental, and vision, cell phone reimbursement (for most positions), generous vacation and paid sick leave, office meals and snacks, team building events and activities throughout the year.
