Electronics Manufacturing FacilityPosition SummaryThe Jr. Manufacturing Engineer supports production operations in an electronics manufacturing environment, focusing on SMT and through-hole assembly processes. This entry-level engineering position provides hands-on technical support for daily production while developing expertise in electronics manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality systems. The role offers growth opportunities to advance into senior engineering responsibilities.Primary ResponsibilitiesProduction Support (40%)Provide daily technical support to production floor operationsTroubleshoot basic SMT defects (tombstoning, bridging, insufficient solder)Assist operators with machine setup and changeover proceduresMonitor first article inspections and address initial production issuesSupport production line starts and debug activitiesDocument and escalate complex technical issues to senior engineersParticipate in daily production meetingsSMT Programming & Setup (25%)Create and modify basic SMT programs under supervisionImport CAD/Centroid data into programming softwareMaintain component shape libraries for standard packagesSet up and verify machine feeders and nozzle configurationsOptimize simple programs for placement efficiencyGenerate setup sheets and feeder lists for operatorsValidate program changes through first article buildsProcess Documentation (15%)Develop clear work instructions for assembly operationsCreate visual aids and reference materials for production floorUpdate existing procedures based on process improvementsDocument machine settings and process parametersMaintain revision control for manufacturing documentsSupport ISO/AS9100 documentation requirementsQuality & Continuous Improvement (10%)Collect and analyze basic production yield dataParticipate in root cause analysis investigationsImplement approved corrective actionsSupport process improvement projects led by senior engineersTrack defect trends and report findingsAssist with internal quality auditsEngineering Support Tasks (10%)Review new designs for basic manufacturability concernsSupport prototype and NPI buildsAssist with time studies and line balancing analysisHelp maintain equipment calibration schedulesCoordinate with suppliers on component packaging issuesSupport ECO implementation on production floorJob RequirementsRequired Skill SetsEducational RequirementsMinimum: Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related technical fieldPreferred: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical EngineeringAlternative: Technical certificate with 2+ years relevant manufacturing experienceTechnical SkillsEssential Technical KnowledgeUnderstanding of electronic components and PCB assembly processesBasic knowledge of SMT processes (screen printing, placement, reflow)Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and PCB layoutsUnderstanding of IPC-A-610 acceptability standardsBasic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for manufacturingCommunication & Interpersonal SkillsClear written communication for procedures and reportsAbility to explain technical concepts to non-technical personnelComfortable presenting findings to small groupsTeam player who can work across departmentsPatience and professionalism when training operatorsBilingual capabilities valued in diverse workforce environmentsProfessional AttributesSelf-motivated with ability to work independentlyOrganized with strong time management skillsFlexible and adaptable to changing prioritiesEager to learn new technologies and processesDetail-oriented with commitment to qualityComfortable in fast-paced manufacturing environmentPreferred Additional QualificationsIPC certification (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001)Experience with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing conceptsFamiliarity with automated optical inspection (AOI) systemsKnowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principlesExperience with 3D printing or fixture designUnderstanding of ESD control requirementsPrevious internship or co-op in electronics manufacturing
