Accounts Payable Clerk

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the accountability and accuracy of the store’s bookkeeping functions. Ensure that vendors are paid accurately and in a timely manner including the processing of check transmittal/requests with appropriate assignment of account codes, authorization and signature. Validate all invoices, transfers, pay-outs, etc. ensuring accuracy and proper processing procedures. Answer telephones and transfer or route calls to the appropriate department/party. Assist in coordinating audit work and requests from accountants. Ensure that all usage reports and interdepartmental transfers are handled accurately. Report all sales and payout totals to the Accounting Manager. Input invoice amounts into the computer with accuracy. Ensure that all checks produced are accurately printed, signed and mailed. Organize and maintains file systems, files correspondence and other necessary records. Research all inquiries from vendors and store management while maintaining good communication. Prepare outgoing mail and correspondences including e-mail and faxes. Assist in training associate personnel, as necessary. Other duties as assigned.              QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED, required. Associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred. Previous accounts payable experience, required. Must be organized, able to properly set priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail.
