No If Sensitive Position, please paste statementDesignated Personnel Yes Responsible Employee This position is designated as a "responsible employee" who has the authority to redress sexual violence, who has the duty to report incidents of sexual violence or other student misconduct, or who a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.If Designated Personnel, please paste statement This position is a "designated position" meaning this position could potentially be required to work (depending on the event) during an emergency closing.Statement of Economic InterestIf Statement of Economic Interest, please paste statementIs this a restricted position subject to availability of funding?If Restricted Position, please paste statementDepartmental Objective Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining campus buildings utilizing the carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades as well as housekeeping and floor maintenance.Purpose of the Position Supervises, schedules, and assigns work to the HVAC Installation and Repair Technicians, HVAC Installation and Repair Assistants, and Plumbers. Monitors time and attendance. Approve or reject leave. As a working supervisor, performs repairs, alterations, renovations, and new installations for building HVAC & Plumbing systems and their associated components. Prepares material and labor cost data for renovation projects. Assist the Director and Assistant Director in budget control. Works with outside contractors on contract work to inspect and give guidance on the university's specifications. Acts as project manager/contract administrator on all HVAC & Plumbing projects for in-house projects and work performed by contractors. Reviews and approves all project manuals [specifications] for HVAC and plumbing projects. Provides supervision for a group of HVAC and plumbing personnel. Writes scopes of work. This is a designated position and reports as directed during emergency closings.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position Knowledge of methods, practices, and materials used in HVAC maintenance & building control systems and plumbing systemsDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems to maintain HVAC systems throughout campus and the ability to teach this knowledge to other HVAC personnel under supervisionAbility to check & adjust systems remotely using an energy management systemAbility to maintain adequate records, time sheets, leave forms, refrigerant logs, etc.Ability to supervise personnelGood oral & written communication skillsAbility to follow and enforce OSHA and VOSH safety regulationsEducation, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required Education:High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diplomaValid VA driver's licenseTraining in HVAC fieldActive Journeyman HVAC Mechanical licenseEPA Universal Refrigerant recovery certificationExperience:HVAC experience on commercial systemsExperience with energy management/building automation system controls and softwareAdditional Consideration(s) Education:Active Master HVAC Mechanical licenseActive Journeyman or Master Plumbing licenseBuilding Automation System (BAS)/energy management system vendor certificationsExperience :Experience working in a lead or supervisor position.Experience in higher education or government organizationsExperience with work order systems for tracking data on shop productivity and costsExperience with Virginia's procurement system and regulations (eVA)Salary Information Starting at $68,534, Commensurate with Education and Experience CNU Information This position includes Commonwealth of Virginia and Christopher Newport University employee benefits.
