The program manager provides direct supervision to unit supervisors of the various programs within the assigned area to ensure the delivery of services and compliance with program policies/regulations consistent with the Department's strategic plan. Examples of Duties DutiesDirect one of three major components of the Services Division within the Department of Social ServicesProvide direct supervision to unit supervisors of the various programs within the assigned area to ensure the delivery of services and compliance with program policies/regulations consistent with the Department's strategic planParticipate in the DSS Strategic planning processSubmit budget recommendations for the Services DivisionCoordinate resources, policies, and procedures to achieve and maintain countywide service deliveryReview programs, goals, and objectives with supervisorsProvide direct supervision to six social work supervisors and one office support supervisorEnsure compliance with standards/regulations; make adjustments or reassign staff based on mandates/prioritiesDevelop programs and resources to enhance service delivery. Participate in the interviewing and selection process by functioning as a panelist on the interview boardWrite position descriptions and develop task analyses and interview questions when recruiting for positions Typical Qualifications Minimum QualificationsMSW from an accredited school of Social Work and three years of social work or counseling experience, which includes two years of supervisory experienceBSW from an accredited school of Social Work and four years of social work or counseling experience, which includes two years of supervisory experienceMaster's degree in a counseling field and three years of social work or counseling experience, which includes two years of supervisory experienceFour year degree in a human service field or related curriculum and five years of social work or counseling experience, which includes two years of supervisory experienceFour year degree from an accredited college or university and five years of professional directly related experience in a human service field, which includes two years of supervisory experienceMust have a current valid driver's licenseA motor vehicle record (MVR), background & credit check, and drug screening will be conducted on candidates considered for positions.Preferred qualificationsPreferred candidates must have three years or more of supervisory experience in one of the following areas of Children's Protective Services: Adoptions, Assessments, Foster Care/Guardianship, or Treatment along with educational and experience requirements above. To determine the extent of neglect, abuse, physical illness the employees may experience emotional stress due to the nature of interactions with clients or service providers and behavioral problems such as; aggression of clients and/or family members that cause bodily injury for employees.Employees work in settings that range from modern public service buildings, residential facilities, institutions or home environments.Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, operate a computer, and do extensive reading.Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Residency RequirementCandidate must reside within a two-hour driving radius of Guilford County to be considered for employment.Driving is EssentialDriving is an essential requirement of this position whether driving a County owned or personal vehicle to conduct county business.
