In order to make and cultivate relationships, training on-site full time is required. Hybrid flex policy is available thereafter. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: * Investigate commercial and residential fires that may involve mechanical systems or fire protection systems * Conduct field investigations and perform forensic engineering & failure/accident analysis on incidents involving fires, fire protection systems, pressure vessels, HVAC systems, boilers, gas systems, plumbing systems, etc. * Conduct unbiased investigations for various clients * Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in written reports * Responsible for retention and development of client relationships * Prepare and submit written reports, documenting findings and results when requested * Explain to clients, in layman's terms, your investigation, analysis and findings * Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups * Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings * Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending company-paid educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies * Develop and maintain client relations * Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance * Regular and predictable presence at work Position Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering required; Masters Degree preferred * P. E. registration or ability to obtain * CFI certification or ability to obtain * Fire Investigation experience or desire to learn a must * Knowledge of fire protection systems, gas systems, sprinkler systems and plumbing * Minimum of seven (7) years of post-academic engineering experience * Forensic, design or testing experience/exposure * Exceptional interpersonal, communication and writing skills Physical Requirements * Ability to travel 25% of the time * Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site * Ability to lift 50 lbs. * Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites * Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing * Ability to drive in all conditions * Ability to fly on airplanes * Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts * Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site * Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications SEA places a strong value and priority on diversity, equity and inclusion across the company.
