Mechanical Engineer/DesignerWeatherTech is seeking a well-qualified Mechanical Engineer/Designer who is passionate about conceptualizing and fully designing products.As a Mechanical Engineer/Designer, you willDevelop and deliver engineering output files to print prototyped 3D parts while considering optimal design aesthetics and cost-efficiencyUse 3D CAD modeling skills such as advanced surfacing, part modeling, and assembly to design new product lines across many new vehicle applicationsDesign products using CAD, and consult with engineering and manufacturing teammates to ensure that designs are feasibleDevelop and build prototypes and run tests to measure their level of functionRecord and evaluate testing data, altering designs as necessary to bring them to safety, performance, and efficiency standardsConsult with fabrication teams during product manufacturing, advising them on design specifications and providing physical assistance when requiredResearch competitor products quarterly and collaborate with product development team to generate ideas for making our products the best ones on the marketCalculate cost estimates for final product designs, and release reports to supervisors, incorporating costs of labor, material, delivery and overheadAttend weekly team meetings to provide progress reports, obtain updates on colleagues' progress, strategize on steps for following week and acquire information about projected emerging product linesCreate and submit designs to the model shop for rapid prototype print and buildCollaborate with the product development team and other departments to modify manufacturing drawings for various components and assembliesTrack all work related to design, from concept to production for projects assigned Collaborate with the product development team, supporting all aspects of product development including reliability testing, product qualification, and product design verificationKeep work area and equipment in a clean and orderly conditionCommunicate clearly and work as part of a teamPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience4-7 years of experience designing and engineering productsExpert knowledge in 3D CAD (Solidworks or UG NX preferred)Experience or working knowledge of aluminum and plastic extrusions, thermoforming, sheet metal stamping, and machiningA high knowledge of part design and injection moldingFEA experience, a plusAble to demonstrate creativity with examples of workProvide meticulous attention to detail and mechanical aptitudeBe knowledgeable and have an interest in the automotive industryExperience with consumer products, a plusProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteStrong interpersonal skills to effectively work with external contacts as well as internal departments within the companyStrong organizational, oral, and written communication skills Authorized to work in the United States Why you'll love working at WeatherTechWeatherTech is proud to offer employees a competitive salary and benefits package, opportunities for internal promotions and skill development, and a clean and safe workspace.
