Job Title: Network & Cabling ConsolidatorCompensation: ~$50.00/hrProject Duration: 10-Week ContractLocation: Atlanta, GARole Type: Technical Documentation & Infrastructure ReconciliationPosition SummaryWe are seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Network & Cabling Consolidator to lead a critical 10-week infrastructure reconciliation project. This role is responsible for the comprehensive documentation, organization, and validation of complex network environments to support a global CMDB (Configuration Management Database) implementation.The successful candidate will bridge the gap between physical hardware and digital records, ensuring that every switch, router, circuit, and cable run is accurately accounted for. You will be responsible for reconciling disparate data sources, reading complex network diagrams, and preparing high-fidelity data for system import.Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Documentation: Systematically document all network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls, alongside structured cabling components like patch panels and cross-connects. Data Reconciliation: Audit existing network documentation against physical "real-world" environments to identify and resolve inconsistencies in circuit IDs and asset information. Diagram Interpretation: Review and interpret detailed network topology and cabling diagrams to validate physical port mappings and connectivity paths. CMDB Preparation: Organize and format large sets of infrastructure data into standardized templates ready for CMDB integration, ensuring 100% data integrity. Connectivity Mapping: Document complex fiber and copper cable runs, including cross-connects between internal racks and external carrier circuits. Inventory Management: Utilize advanced Excel functions to track, sort, and reconcile massive inventories of network assets and hardware specifications.Technical Qualifications Network Proficiency: Deep understanding of enterprise-level network hardware, specifically Cisco, Juniper, or similar switches, routers, and firewalls. Structured Cabling Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, patch panel configurations, and the physical layer of the OSI model. Data Center Experience: Proven experience working within high-density data center environments and understanding their unique power and cooling constraints. Analytical Tools: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, data cleaning) for complex inventory reconciliation. Technical Reading: Ability to fluently read and update network diagrams, rack elevations, and logical/physical topologies.Requirements Attention to Detail: Absolute precision in documenting serial numbers, port assignments, and circuit identifiers. Self-Starter: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet strict 10-week project milestones.
