The new Summit Broadband is poised for an incredible future fueled by team members dedicated to being the best.Position: Title: Headend EngineerReports To: Manager, Network ServicesPosition Status: Full-time/ExemptLocation: Orlando, FLPosition Summary:The Headend Engineer's primary responsibility will be assisting with the management and maintenance of fiber optic transport and RF delivery networks for the company's video and data products.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Serve as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for HFC and RF optical transport networksWork with fiber plant personnel to maximize use of existing and future fiber facilitiesContinual development of an all-digital headend, including TVRO's, equipment racking, provisioning, and testingCreate and maintain accurate documentation of existing and future hub site deployments to include physical and logical diagramsMaintain a very high standard of wiring management from both a network and cosmetic perspectiveMaintain integrity of forward and reverse combining networks at the headend and remote POP'sPerform technical evaluations of emerging technologies to support our Technology RoadmapActively perform RF troubleshooting and trainingManage the CMTS's from an RF perspectiveInstall, align and maintain headend based optical transmitters and receivers for the HFC networkInstall and configure equipment for new product launches including GPON FTTHPerform conversion of HFC to GPON FTTH propertiesComplete FCC proof-of-performance, CLI testing as required and file necessary reportsRequirementsJob Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in an electrical engineering discipline or related technology field or equivalent industry certifications requiredSeven years' experience in a telecommunications signal processing environmentTwo years' experience in an IPTV or Cable headend/data center/central office environmentUnderstanding of IPTV, IP multicast, video codecs, and standardsWiring and wire management skills mainly copper, CAT5/CAT6, CoaxialUnderstanding of TCP/IP, and IP addressing.Understanding of ASI, SDI, HDMI, RF splitters, Satellite bandsExperience with MPEG/TS Analyzers, packet capture softwareExcellent communication and troubleshooting skillsAdvanced Microsoft office skills including VisioMust be able to pass criminal background check and drug testMust have a valid driver's license and clean driving recordOther Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
